        The Devil came from Kansas
Where he went to I can’t say
If you really are my brother
Then you’d better start to pray
For the sins of those departed
        And those about to go
There’s a dark cloud just above us
Don’t tell me ‘cos I know

No I never came from Kansas
Don’t forget to thank the cook
Which reminds me of my duty
I was lost and now I look
For the turning and the signpost
And the road that takes you down
To that pool inside the forest
In whose waters I shall drown

      • The Marisha Pessl thing. I didn’t get where you were going with this at first, but know that I look at it, there are some interesting connections here.

On the Mark Sarvas lit blog it did seem unusual for Ms. Duncan to launch such an impassioned defense of Pessl’s book which she repeatedly states she has not read, on a literary forum of what sounds like mostly “old white guys” who mostly don’t want to hear it. From what I’ve seen of Ms. Duncan’s work, this seems highly unusual. Was she trying to draw attention to something, or just drunk/stoned?

Marisha Pessl, according to wiki, is a former financial consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, married to a hedge fund manager. Her first novel, ‘Special Topics of Calamity Physics’ concerns the death of a university film teacher first thought to be suicide, but later revealed as murder. Also the second link “And Two for Unknown Reasons” is a quote from ‘Special Topics’, which refers to two fictional books about the subject of faking suicide. Pessl’s upcoming second novel is about “a filmmaker looking into an apparent suicide”.

Extra points for being born on October 26 in Detroit Michigan.

      • I could isolate, consciously, little. Everything seemed blurred, yellow-clouded, yielding nothing tangible. Her inept acrostics, maudlin evasions, theopathies – every recollection formed ripples of mysterious meaning. Everything seemed yellowly blurred, illusive, lost.

      • Like Marisha Pessl and Theresa Duncan, Holly Woodlawn was born on October 26. Mike Kelley was born on October 27 and died on Janurary 31 and was found the next day on Feb 1. William Desmond Taylor, a Hollywood producer who seems to have had some connection to the O.T.O. in Detroit, was murdered on Feb 1. Andrew Breitbart was born on Feb1 and died on March 1. Was that what they meant by Kookpocalypse?

      • There is a vaguely placed cluster of religious holidays both pagan and Catholic between January 30 and February 2 known variously as Candlemas, Oimelc, or Imbolc. In an email, Kidkenoma has mentioned speculation by Peter Levenda and Maury Terry that the Son-of-Sam attributed murder of Christine Freund was commited purposefully close to this day for some unspecified occult significance with possible implications of sacrificial motives. I seem to remember further speculation that this particular murder was thought to be carried out by, or done in collaboration with an “occult superstar” known as “Manson the 2nd” who is further alleged to be convicted hit-man Wiliam Mentzer. Or so they allege. If so, the Kid said, Mentzer would connect a lot of dots that nobody wants connected. Naturally kk was always trying to see if the dots connected.

      • Did someone mention October 26?

Also a special day for this unusually productive Golden Dawn member
